GBR Editorial | Trump’s Reckless Trade War Is a Costly Blow to Golf Industry
Dear subscriber, dear reader,
We have nothing to add to what the Editorial Board of the Wall Street Journal has said on the tariffs that President Trump has just imposed on Canada, Mexico, and China1. President Trump has long considered that other countries take advantage of the USA. Indeed, as early as the 80s, he bought full-page ads in major newspapers to make his views known. We cannot say that we weren't warned.
We presume that tariffs will disrupt the lives of those employed in the Golf industry just as much as those in any other industry. We know that for some of you it may be painful.
We have many readers and subscribers across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, spanning both red and blue states. What our readers think about politics is not our concern. What matters to us is the business of golf and the economic forces shaping it.
We encourage you to take one simple step to strengthen the ties within our community. If you’d like to share your thoughts with our 54,000+ readers, you can leave a comment below or email us at newsroom@golfbusinessreview.com. We’ll publish a curated selection free of charge.
At the same time, we are committed to covering the real impact of these tariffs on you and your businesses. Because of the importance of this issue, we will continue working hard to bring you in-depth stories, and all our coverage on the trade war will be freely available to all users, not just paying subscribers.
Have a great Sunday.

Tom, I would not be too critical of Trump. He needs to do what he is doing. Wait through his first hundred days. Remember if one makes a double bogie doesn’t mean you move off your game plan.
